Why Can't I Find My Address?

Learn why your address might not appear in our search results and what you can do about it.

If you can't find your address in our search tool, don't worry. There are several common reasons why this might happen, and we're here to help you understand your options.

You're Not in a Deregulated Area

Our service only covers addresses within ERCOT's deregulated market. If you live outside of Texas or in areas served by other grids, your address won't appear in our search.

You're Served by a Co-op or Municipality

Some electric cooperatives and municipal utilities don't participate in the deregulated market. These areas have their own electric providers and aren't open to competition.

Examples:

  • Austin Energy
  • CPS Energy (San Antonio)
  • Various rural electric cooperatives

Address Format Issues

Sometimes addresses need to be entered in a specific format to be found. Try different variations of your address.

Try these tips:

  • Use abbreviations (St. instead of Street)
  • Try with and without apartment/unit numbers
  • Check spelling of street names
  • Use ZIP code search instead

New Construction or Recently Changed Address

If your home is newly built or your address recently changed, it might not be in our database yet. You can find your ESIID on your current electric bill.

1

Locate Your Electric Bill

Find a recent electric bill from your current provider.

2

The ESIID is a 17 or 22-digit number usually found on the first or second page of your bill.
